First Time Visitor? What to Expect
Covenant Baptist Church of Blount County is a Bible-believing church, striving to promote the glory and enjoyment of God. We worship in a deliberate matter first, recognizing that the most important question before us is not what man likes, but what God likes in His worship.
We endeavor to worship reverently and joyfully, with our focus on being God-honoring, Christ-centered, and Spirit-filled.
Our Worship service begins at 10:00am. During this time, we sing several songs, offer prayers of praise and confession to God, and hear Old and New Testament Scripture read.
We love the doctrinally rich hymns of the sixteenth century and we find blessing in the choruses of the twenty-first. We strongly prefer congregational singing, which emphasizes the gathered body singing praise to God with one voice, over performed music, which tends to spotlight the abilities of some while encouraging passivity in the rest.
Preaching at Covenant Baptist is expositional, meaning that it seeks to declare the point of a particular Biblical passage. All preaching is gospel-driven. We believe that the Scripture alone is the authoritative and sufficient basis for all of faith and life, and therefore we give the exposition and application of God’s Word the central place in our worship.
